Online MTB coaching: video analysis and riding skills
- September 28, 2023
If you want to improve your mountain bike technique, uphill and downhill, this is the place to start.
My name is Graziano and I live in Valtellina, in the central Alps. I am not an MTB champion, but I have always had a strong interest in analysing technique and posture, and a natural ability to watch and listen. I offer that experience to help you work towards new goals.
You send me your riding videos — I will explain how to record them — and together we analyse your style:
- identify difficulties;
- create individual exercises;
- find areas for improvement.
The aim is to enjoy riding more and work on confidence both downhill and uphill. See my article about learning without fear (in Italian).

How online MTB coaching works
As your remote MTB coach, I will listen to your needs and goals, analyse your videos, help identify mistakes and plan specific exercises.
We will look for suitable practice locations near where you live. Even in a town, steps, gradients and obstacles can help simulate trail situations.
My approach is simple:
Learn by doing simple things well, then increase the difficulty gradually.
Why have a coach when YouTube and Instagram exist?
There are plenty of tutorials online, but riders often struggle to find material suited to their level. Information can be fragmented, and knowing the theory does not necessarily reveal why a movement is not working.
We may know how a corner is supposed to be ridden. The difficulty is understanding why we cannot do it ourselves. An unnoticed mistake can hold back progress.
Working towards results

Can MTB coaching work remotely?
Sharing video and photographs makes it possible to analyse riding from a distance. Slow-motion playback, attention to individual movements and a conversation from home can be useful tools for learning.

Common assumptions to question
These are some ideas I would like to help riders move beyond:
- “Always keep your weight back downhill.”
- “I will never manage that section.”
- “It is all about strength and courage.”
- “Just let go and send it” as advice for a beginner.

MTB courses for children and teenagers
The children’s MTB courses (information in Italian) that I run with Lucia Moraschinelli and REDLINE introduce young riders to MTB through learning and enjoyment. These courses take place in Valtellina.

Sometimes you need someone to watch and listen
Mindset matters alongside technique
The aim is not simply to learn movements. It is also to develop confidence, awareness, resilience and a positive attitude, for young riders and adults alike.
