The route stays entirely in Slovenia, starting from Lokve, a mountain village at about 1,000 m, roughly 20 km from Gorizia.
Comfortable forest roads cross beech woods on the Trnovo plateau. After repeated climbs and descents, a refuge at 1,242 m offers views towards the Gulf of Trieste; the original notes also mention Slovenian food there.
Before the mostly downhill second half, a short detour leads to a viewpoint below Monte Kuceli. Complete the loop to Lokve via Mala Lazna, another refreshment stop described by the contributor.
The original figures are 44 km and 1,000 m of ascent, with few technical difficulties and a rideable route throughout on that outing.
