Start at Costa Masnaga and head towards Erba. Climb via the Zoccolo ascent to Capanna Mara, then follow the beech trail to Bocchetta di Molina.
Continue to the car park at Brunate and turn left onto the trail descending to Civiglio. The opening is very technical; it later becomes more flowing and twisting.
From Civiglio, descend on tarmac to Albese, then use trails towards Alserio and back to the start.
