Livigno MTB trails and bike parks

  • November 12, 2024

Livigno sits at around 1,800 m in the Italian Alps, in the Alta Rezia area. Mountain biking is a major part of its summer identity, with bike parks, riding schools, guides and a variety of freeride, XC and family-oriented routes. It is also a starting point for the Dreiländer Tour.

This is a personal overview based on the original guide, not a live list of lift opening dates or an assessment that every trail suits every rider.

Trails around Livigno

It is difficult to capture the appeal of Livigno’s trails in words alone. Some familiar outings include Alpisella–Trela, Mottolino–Valle delle Mine, Val Federia and Alpe del Gallo–Val Mora–Cancano.

The trail towards Alpe del Gallo is particularly memorable: bring a camera.

Browse Livigno GPS routes. One of my favourite loops links Livigno, Alpisella Pass, Cancano and Trela before returning to Livigno. The original guide linked to this Livigno multi-pass GPS route (route page in Italian).

Valle delle Mine

Another ride I particularly enjoy. The original notes suggest taking the Mottolino lift to reach higher ground if desired. Check current lift operation and bike carriage rather than assuming availability. Valle delle Mine GPS route (in Italian).

Carosello and Mottolino bike parks

Mottolino is Livigno’s long-established bike park, associated in the original account with a freeride character and trails of different grades.

Carosello, on the other side of the valley, was described as having a strong flow-trail focus, appealing to all-mountain and enduro riders. Some options may interest families or less experienced riders, but trail choice must match individual skills; the whole park is not automatically a beginner route.
