Xc racing - Cross country Racing

Useful for competitions, generally a kind of Mtb very expensive.

These mountain bikes have usually weight under 10 kg, carbon frames or parts of it, traditional brakes, maximum fork travel 80 mm, hard tail.

Xc -Cross country

People often buy this kind of Mtb as first bike, but these bikes are generally used in competition, but less oriented to extreme lihgtness.
Hard tail, weight till 12 kg, usually cheaper than Xc Racing.
We can put in this category all front suspended bikes.

Marathon

These bikes are used in long distance competitions: the so called Marathon.
Bikers have to ride for hours and hours, so they need more comfort.
Hard tail become soft with the rear shock, components are oriented to competition.
Sometimes on this kind of Mtb you can find disc brakes.

Trail

With these bikes we get out from competition area and get in the marvelous world of hiking.
If you are not interested in competition and love spent your weekend riding between forests and mountains here is your Mtb.
Full suspended with travel approximately of 120 mm, these bikes are comfortable, safe and very funny on all terrains.

All mountain -AM- Enduro

If you ride a trail Mtb (see above) and begin to look at drops or difficult singletracks you will probably need a more solid mountain bike with a bigger travel.
If you are a skilled rider and you are looking for stronger emotions this is the bike for you.

Freeride - FR

Freeride is maybe a rider skill and not a kind of mountain bike.
Freeriders look for jumps, drops and new trajectories, they do not love going uphill, but once they got there they will throw theyrself down like mountain goats.
Freeride Mtb are AM Mtb (se above) more solid, with bigger travel, with more aggressive tires and powerful disc brakes.

DownHill - DH

If you have courage and adrenaline to sell downhill is just right for you!
Bikes are bigger, stronger, heavier and totally speed oriented, if you want to be the faster you need one of these mountain bikes.
A little suggestion: to get on the top with your friends you will better use a Ford Bronco pick-up...
