Here we are in Finale Ligure for a 2 days Mountain bike holiday.
Finale Ligure is a small town on Mar Ligure, the part of Mediterranean Sea near Liguria, in the northwest of Italy; you can arrive here driving 2,5 hour from Milan and 1,5 from Turin.
We'd like to have some pedaling trails and see that famous single trails for which bikers come in Finale Ligure from all Europe.
The sweet Elisabetta will be our unofficial MTB guide, we'll pedal through 2 famous trails: Ciappi and Le Manie, there is another beautifull "all the day" trail (Sentiero H ) but this time we have only 2 days.
At the end of both I decide that these 2 tracks can be merged in one for a "all the day" tour: I've called it The big around
In Manie track (Gps Track) as we start from Finale Ligure we're quickly in tightened and particular streets.
We go uphill on an asphalted road, climbing easily and suddenly we enter on a single trail with fluid slope...
A few minutes and we are dipped in the silence of the forest...
Here we meet Camisa', 20 years old and 92th in DH World Championship.
He's going down very fast, testing his new Marzocchi's coil. A little bit of gossip about the world of the pros and then we go on.
We keep on going uphill, the trail is beautiful and, after a few time, we reach a wonderful panoramic point
of view: the sea is overthere and its smell come to us on a soft breeze...
We arrive on Manie's plateau, the spot is marvellous, full of mediterranean vegetation: guys it looks like the fantastic Sardinia!
Now we go downhill on a very cool and fast trail...There is a wonderful scenario, I've never been in California, but it should be like this!
Ok nice riding style for my Bro !!!! Can you hear me !!!!!!!!!!!! Wait for me !!!!!!!!!!
The downhill continues between trails covered with powder and trees, and overthere always the sea...This is what I was looking for!
A fluid and tightened single track dipped in a fantastic mix of the soft smell of the sea and the strong scent of the rosemary...Magnificent!
I am in extasy ... I must live here !!!!
In the end we go downhill towards the sea riding the "DH Donne" trail, a very steep trail with steps, pavements and fast passages.
We are finally near the sea, its soft and gentle smell drive us to Finale Ligure.
My mind is full of fantastic images ... C'mon, let's have a beer Bro !!!
And now let's see the second track, remeber that you can ride the 2 tracks together (the complete ride takes about 5 or 6 hours). The complete gps track is here and you have to take it unclockwise.
The evening before I took my mountain bike to Tiziano of GoodBike, a mountain bike shop in Finale Ligure with shuttle services (click here for the complete shop details ),
Tiziano is very kind and my new fork is quicky ready to ride: it's a Lyiric 2 Step Air.
Ciappi track (click here for gps track and details ) goes uphill on an asphalted road, after a while the singletrack begins...It's beautiful and runs through with many up & down in a silent forest with some white rocks.
We suddenly dive in a wonderful forest that make me think about Sardinia and Corsica, this is a fantastic freeride line and sometimes
we have to get down from the saddle of the mountain bike.
Then here we are in a very evocative spot, someone come here for free-climbing, we also see ancient caves with graffiti.
And then a very characteristic spot...
At the end of the trail we arrive in Finale Ligure trought another beautifull single trail
And then we're ready for another bear in Finale Ligure !!!
Reassuming:
Gps Track Le Manie
Gps Track Ciappi Trail
Gps Track Le Manie + Ciappi The Big Around

Scritto da SteveGhost, il 20-01-2010 16:37 io ho una 120mm full e mi sono trovato benissimo anche in situazioni "critiche", non conta sempre l'escursione...conta il biker! (poi se hai una forca da 160 è ancora meglio!) |
